Certification and Credentialing:

STAR-Designated Education Program Provider:

Board of Registered
Polysomnographic Technologists

The Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) is a nonprofit board that champions excellence for sleep professionals through its esteemed Registered Polysomnographic Technologist™ (RPSGT) credential.

Since 1979, they've certified over 22,000 RPSGTs in the United States, Canada, and 32 countries overseas.
Their RPSGT credential, endorsed by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) , serves as a hallmark of professional standards and is renewed every five years. The BRPT sets the credentialing standards for the RPSGT credential and develops, maintains and administers the RPSGT exam.

To become certified as an RPSGT, a technologist must have the necessary educational and clinical experience, hold a Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or its equivalent, adhere to the BRPT Standards of Conduct and pass the RPSGT credentialing exam.

The Registered Polysomnographic Technologist™ (RPSGT) is an internationally recognized credential representing the highest certification in the field for the health care professionals who clinically assess patients with sleep disorders.

The STAR (Sleep Technology Approved Resource) Program is directed to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in sleep technology or who’s currently working as a sleep technician and would like to become a registered polysomnographic technologist (RPSGT).
